Eremurus?

(Zone 4b)

I would love to hear of your experience with this plant. I saw it in the bulb section of a nursery and looking it up on-line the flower spikes are impressive. But further reading seems to indicate that it is a bit finicky in terms of survival and flowering.

I would love to hear of your experience with this plant.

The roots are very tough and it's very difficult to move them so plant them in a place you consider permanent. My first three died when we did try to move them.

The one I didn't move has done very well. Not so with the additional ones in the exact same area.

All were purchased and planted between 2010 and 2011.

I agree with the difficulty in moving them but for the reason that the roots are very brittle and prone to breakage. They are extremely hardy though, at least the species I've tried.

My husband moved them so maybe he wasn't as careful as he should have been.

I've moved them and killed them too. I was just commenting that I believe it's because the roots break very easily.

I've heard it and now I believe it.
