I cooked a pot of great northern beans w/ ham hocks. The h. hocks were frozen when I purchased them. I cooked them the next day. The soup is not really good. Not rancid or foul just not really good. It is the ham hock flavor that is off. I wonder if I had used a ham bone the flavor would be better and sweeter? I have 3-4 qts of soup and no one likes it.
Just beans, water, onions, carrots/celery. I was looking for a simple beans w/ ham flavor.
Ham hock advice?
