CD drive problems

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

I have a vertical CD drive on my computer. I have never been really happy with it, but it has worked reluctantly in the past.

However, I can't get it to open. Is there a secret way to maybe pry it open. On an older computer, with a horizontal drive, there was a pin hole that could be pried open with a paper clip.

I went to "my computer" and tried the "eject" function, and that didn't work.

I hate to take it to my computer shop, as they charge $75 for just accepting it, and then the labor for time spent is added on to that. If there is a little trick that I could do myself, it would be lots cheaper than taking it to the compvespital.
