Yep, messed up big time. Have lost fans due to rot, am trying to save others. Purchased at sale, they were in plastic bags-ventilated. I let them get hot...steamed up moisture and still, I did not plant....wasn't feeling well.
When I felt good enough..opened the (stinky bag) I cleaned off the rotted roots and crowns..it is hot and humid..some mold came back..heading out to dip in bleach solution and try to get them to dry out.
Anything else I should do,,other than making certain that I don't do that again?

After soaking in bleach water, I would plant them and hope for the best. I would plant them in a area separate from your gardens. If they make it through winter, then you can move them next year.
