I winter sown a bunch of Agastache seeds, and this beautiful red -- Salvia I believe was in the mix.
A week ago, the "bud" looked pale yellow, I had no idea what it would be,, just that an errant seed was in with the agastches.
I was gone for 6 days and when I came back, i saw this gorgeous red Salvia.
Anyone have any idea which one it is? I'm hoping it will set seeds so I can have more next year.
found this in my agastache
.... or are tall red salvias so common it would be hard to ID it?
I think if it had a longer growing season, it would be almost "shrub" like.
It is sort of wide, with a lot of buds on it, so it would be a large plant.
currently it's about 30" tall and 24" wide.
gonna need some of these in FLA
It looks like salvia coccinea to me. A good reseeder and a great hummingbird plant for hummingbirds.
I agree. S. coccinea long ago developed a pantropical distribution via its hitchhiking with other plants and ready adoption by gardeners.
that little flower bed, where I put those Agastaches and the Salvia... was crushed in a storm early Monday morning... I believe i was able to save most the salvia, though the blooms on the top are toast. -- the whole bed was crushed by a fallen pine tree.
I hope I can find / save the agastaches, as they were ones I'd not had before and was hoping to take to Fla with me in Oct.
