Elm With Long Tipped Leaves?

East Bridgewater, MA

The lighting was tough in this nook of the campus. Is this an Elm and if so what kind? I want to guess Slippery Elm.

Thanks!

Looks more like a cherry to me; leaves not oblique at the base as in elms.

The smooth bark and the cluster of trunks forming a vase-shaped habit say for all the world Zelkova!

But those leaves don't, and that acuminate drip-tip is maddening.

Take more pictures of buds, and more of other parts of the tree next time. It always amazes me that with an unknown that a picture of the whole plant is not forthcoming.

No way to get a pic of the whole try in that tight spot unless I broke into the building or climbed up to the roof.

Necessity is the mother of invention.

Nice sunny day like that, I could imagine - having done so often - laying down and shooting upward.

Two sides to every coin.

So you mean like on one knee angled up 45 degrees? That may have worked...

That's halfway down!

I've laid flat on my back to get the whole tree in the image, in some cases.
