Fall Swap Food Thread

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks to Gita, we will be eating. LOL So crazy around here I completely forgot the food thread.
So we ask that everyone bring some kind of covered dish. We will need drinks, plates, plastic ware, napkins and rolls for the burgers and hot dogs.
Please let us know what you will bring to help with the planing and so we can dream of how wonderful the lunch will be. I will be keeping a list at the top of the thread of who is bringing what so that it will be easy to see.
Ric and I will be providing grilling meats, burgers, hot dogs, sausages, maybe chicken we will see.

I'll bring hamburger and hot dog buns. Can you give me a rough figure of how many to bring? Also, I'll bring a bunch of 2L bottles of soda.

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 7a)

Veggie tray.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Sequoia, I'll let you know.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Seq, IMHO, don't buy too many sodas. I don't think there's a huge soda drinking crowd here. I'll do two or three gallons of sweet tea.

Crispy coleslaw.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Sally--LOVE your crispy Cole Slaw. AND---how silly of me--
I have one of those jugs (2 gal.) with the spicket at the bottom. If you like...
Have to see if it still dispenses--as it has been sitting, unused, forever..

May I also recommend "Aldis" for good hot dogs? They have a 4lb. package of
big, fat 6"+ long hot dogs for $5.99.

**********************************
I will bring an appetizer called "Crab Meltaways".
Bite-sized toasted Baguette slices with a crab and cheese mixture on top.
I will bake them here and try to keep them warm in some way.

Gita

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

Sounds good about the soda, thanks Sally. Lol, I'll buy stuff I like so if it doesn't get drank, I'll bring it back with me :)

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 7a)

I'll bring a potato salad.

Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

I'll bring deviled eggs.

Damascus, MD(Zone 7a)

I will bring Chinese dumplings.

Odenton, MD(Zone 7b)

Yay! Dumplings!!

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Yay All of it!!

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

You guys are making me hungry.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Jeff---

Since you are bringing Hot dog and hamburger buns--I have a request....

Can you PLEASE bring decent buns? The soft ones fall apart as soon as
you put the meat and condiments on them.
I know there are sturdier ones to be had.....more like real bread....like Kaiser rolls...
If you have a bakery outlet anywhere near you--you can find all kinds of
buns there.

Thank you--Gita

Vienna, VA(Zone 7a)

I'll bring fruit salad and Sangria.

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

Lol...I won't get the cheapest ones. Do you like potato buns?

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

jeff--

With all the food that will be there--i am not even likely to eat hotdogs of hamburgers...

Potato buns are definitely a grade above the soft junk breads.

You get whatever YOU think is the best.....G.

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

Alright, thanks for the advice :)

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

WHO asked me anyway???............G.

Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

Gita, you crack me up.

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

The memory of Muddy's sangria....

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

I never got to taste it at Terri's.....Will DEFINITELY do it at Holly's.

G.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Oh I got to taste it and it was soooo good.

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 7a)

Muddy's delicious sangria. Perhaps she will have the perspicacity to bring a larger quantity this time. ;-)

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

Lol you guys and your big words.

Odenton, MD(Zone 7b)

I will bring brownies, of course, and how about some zucchini cake?

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Trust me, Muddy brought a lot. Some of us just sat next to it with a straw. I will use more restraint next time!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Sooo, Muddy-- A bucket-full would be about right?

We could all sit in a circle singing "Kumbaya" with long straws
slurping away....

G. ☻♥

Vienna, VA(Zone 7a)

I'd be happy to bring more! It's so easy to make...Happy knows my secret recipe : - )

Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

How about some zucchini cake indeed! Sounds good.

I'll bring a dessert of some sort, to be determined.

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 7a)

I will bring some straws. ;-)

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

see Jeff what I mean about not needing a whole lot of soda? ROFL

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

Lol....perhaps there will be some others who want something n/a to drink like me :) I guess this isn't really the soda crowd.

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Oh I keep one foot squarely in each camp....

Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

David and I are definitely part of the soda crowd.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

I just finished updating the food thread list at the top, hope I got everyone listed. Boy we are going to do some really fine eating. JR was looking over my shoulder and said he has never had dumplings and I told him that Donners dumplings are the best.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Oh yes, Donner has a very secret recipe...
I was not trying to dis the soda crowd, hope you all know. I almost cannot eat pizza without soda.

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 7a)

DD and I are not generally soda drinkers (although she has been known to imbibe root beer). I prefer seltzer water to soda. It's funny, I used to drink soda all the time, but then after living in Germany for a year where soda was less prevalent, when I came back to the States I no longer liked it, and still don't. It's too sweet for me now. Of course, I manage to get lots of sugar in otherwise. ;-)

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

Imbibe? Are we still doing the vocab words that I have to look up thing? Good thing iPhones have such a nice dictionary feature :)
