I have a metal obelisk that is in a location that gets about 4 to 5 hours of afternoon sun. I would love to hear of your recommendations for a clematis for this structure.
long time bloomer; climber but 5 to 6 feet in height tops
I'll be watching carefully since I have the same question and also have a black metal obelisk!
'pirl', with the hole dug and choice more limited this time of year I made an impulse buy of the Ray Evison clematis "Shimmer".

Very pretty and beautifully named.
I realized I still have five to be moved so I won't be buying more right now.
Thanks for showing everyone the new beauty!
I like that one rouge. Hope you'll let us know how it does. I have a couple of metal obelisks, but DC also builds wood ones in about an hour.
I'm impressed. It took Jack more than a week to build this one (first photo). When it eventually rotted we had a local carpenter build one (photo 2) out of cedar and it took him days to get it done. Photo 3 shows it painted and in the garden. It has several clematises growing on it, including Dr. Ruppel and Ashva.
