Been a good year for corn,of all the different varieties, peaches and cream was the outright winner.now for the downside, the flea beetle was very destructive, need advice on what to do planning for next year, preparing the soil to stop this pest from eating my corn, had very little corn worms .
5th time of harvesting corn this summer
Nice corn. How do you preserve it?
Blanch for 3 minutes and store in freezer bags, easiest for me.
Here, what doesn't get canned, I use a scant amount of olive oil and grill. Then the kernels are removed and frozen in 10 oz. packs. The grilled flavor is great for corn salads, winter soups and stews. Also good sprinkled on green salads.
That's an amazing haul, Tropicman, but I'm afraid I've never heard of the flea beetle. But then, I haven't tried corn yet.
Good to know Maypop,I'll keep that in mind.
Little black beatle that flys eats kernels just like a corn silk worm.
