Admittedly, I haven't don't much research on vendors before this post.
I'm looking for vendors for two beechs, copper and fern leaf. I believe copper is a European beech.
I figured I would bounce it off the gray hairs before spending a few hours poking around.
life is a beech
How big?
What condition (container, et al)?
I wouldn't mind something larger if the price was right. I guess my only real parameter is that isn't a yearling.
Pretty much every clonal or named variety you can think of will be a European Beech - Fagus sylvatica. There have been few to none in all the genetics of American Beech - Fagus grandifolia.
Copper Beech is usually Fagus sylvatica 'Cuprea', or one of the selected purpler clones like 'Riversii'. There are a lot of them that start purplish and green up, or stay more purple/copper through the growing season.
Fernleaf Beech is Fagus sylvatica 'Asplenifolia'.
I would think you would be tripping over this species in such a horticultural hotbed as the Washington/Baltimore axis.
I can't believe I didn't pull off the italics. Going back in for editing...
Something's amiss. Is it just the Valley's computer, or is everyone now bereft of the fun additional emphasis we can normally provide?
Italics have vanished for me too :-(
Greer gardens and Forest Farm have a bunch of European beech listings.

I think Terp would be nuts to ship European Beech from the west coast. There are bound to be plenty available in the northeast metroplex.

I am definitely not ordering anything from the west coast.
I've reported a problem with editing,it was 'supposed' to be fixed, and is still happening and reported again this morning. Now I sit back and wait - I know there are multiple complaints about a couple types of errors......
Terp try

Merrifield is huge. I should have thought aboutthem. They have a hilarious program on in the mornings, it is pure entertainment.
Thanks all.
Happy to help! I know nothing about Merrifield, so I'm glad it might be useful.
