Help with choosing patio furniture

Media, PA

Our beautiful new flagstone patio is almost done (yay!), now we need something to sit on out there. The tables in the photos are rentals for an engagement party - it was just finished enough that we could use it. On to the questions... we've been shopping at both big box stores / Sears etc. / patio furniture specialty store. One decision made is we think we want cast aluminum, both for the look and durability.
Question 1 - Type of chair - the sling type looks so easy maintenance but I kind of prefer the conventional seat with cushions. DH is pretty adamant about no cushions - they get wet and dirty - sat on a few metal set without cushions and think it would be OK. Any opinions about that?
Question 2 - Then, we found a set we like at Home Depot but it seems kind of flimsy. Similar sets at the fancy store cost 3X as much just buying the clearance floor items. They are definitely better quality but is it really that much better? Any experiences out there? We still have the plumbing pipe plastic furniture we bought in the 80's - it's clearly worn but it sure did hold up well.

Thanks for any input!
