Best mouse for Linux?

I have a wireless HP mouse that worked fine on Windows, but my son got me a new computer on which he installed Linux and now the mouse doesn't work right. I tried resetting it to default settings, and that didn't help.
Is there a wireless mouse that will work with this operating system, or do I have to go back to tripping over the cord? :(
