Maybe I should try this more often!

I've never had a lot of luck starting tropical hibiscus from seed. I've watched videos, read books and articles, but never seem to get it right.
My last attempt was this past Winter in my kitchens' garden window. None had germinated by April, so I tossed the soil into my veggie garden. And.....one came up! Perhaps this is where I need to start them from now on!

Looks real nice Brab.

Thanks! I'm hoping more seeds that were in the soil I tossed into the garden germinate.

Wow, that's a beauty. It will be fun to see it bloom.

Yes it will!
And a coin toss as to the parentage. I bought about 20 seeds over the Winter from various crosses.

Hi Beachb-Barbie, I will try to put all those seeds that are difficult to germinate in my veggie bed and see what happens next spring. You might have created a new system in getting difficult seeds to germinate and helped us all . Thanks

The bed does have a lot of organic matter and where it came up, it got mostly dappled shade, with just a bit of full sun.
