I think I have this one correct. Can someone confirm or deny it? Thanks!

Nope ;-) that's a single pinnate leaf, not a shoot with several leaves. Check out Koelreuteria paniculata.

Believe it or not, I did notice it being pinnate, and I thought it was peculiar. I didn't look up the turkey oak info though in between yesterday when I got this and today when i posted.

I wish I visited this place a few weeks ago when this tree was in bloom, it looks like a real beauty.

The flowers come out in late summer, so i guess I'll see them sooner than I thought.

Koelreuteria paniculata blooms in June here, so you will likely see it in flower sooner rather than later.

Tell us about "...this place..."

Just a town green. I've driven through it literally 500 times, but only walked through after eating at a new pizza place with my girls.

Yet you had able assistants - and fully fed, no less?

I'm beginning to doubt that you are in the least bit serious about this whole endeavor. Just when you think you know somebody...
