I live in NE Texas right on the TX/OK border. Have been on my 50 acres for nearly 12 years and before the month of April, 2014, had NEVER seen a scorpion here, even though I have livestock and 17 small barns, an avid gardener, and I am literally all over this acreage on a daily basis. A few weeks ago I was on my bed watching tv when I happened to look over by my left arm.
There was a large dark brown scorpion walking along beside my arm with his tail in that curled position that makes them look so mean.
I had received an order of plants a few days before and had opened that pkg on my bed so we just figured the scorpion came out of that box.
Since then, however, I dug up a grey baby one while planting an apple tree, this morning found a large grey one on a paper support I had made for some small shrubs, and just a few minutes ago I moved a flat object on my front porch to clean under it and sure enough, another one crawled out from beneath it!
Is anyone else in my area seeing scorpians this year for the first time ?
What should I do to get rid of them?
