Is This Magnolia × soulangeana?

This little beauty is in my MIL's front yard, is it a Magnolia × soulangeana (Saucer Magnolia)?

Feels more like a 'Leonard Messel'....

I'm no magnolia specialist so I'm not really sure what your plant is.
But I don't think it's Leonard Messel.
It's hard for me to disagree w/ VV, but I'll stick my neck out and suggest he had one too many glasses of a fine Nebbiolo which distorted his vision.
Leonard has a more dissected flower.
(If VV turns out to be right, well, it won't be my first mis-identification!)
The saucer magnolias I'm familiar with have a darker color at the base of the flower.
But I'm sure there are a zillion cultivars with variations of color.

The blossoms on my MIL's Magnolia look larger with fewer petals than 'Leonard Messel'. Me thinks VV is just messelling with me to make me work for it.
