Star Magnolia

East Bridgewater, MA

Another common tree in bloom in MA is this one. Star Magnolia, correct? Thanks!

Your third picture shows a much taller and more open branching tree than I typically think of for Star Magnolia (Magnolia stellata). Star Magnolia is usually quite dense and - forgive me for the less than botanical description - more stubby and congested looking in its branching.

You may have a selection of Magnolia × loebneri there, a hybrid which has Magnolia stellata as one parent. It is early blooming too, along with Saucer Magnolia and Star Magnolia.
