What's your favorite slug remedy?

Saw my first slugs making whoopee in an iris bed today. What's your favorite way to keep them from taking over?

I never see any here, but I've heard that a small saucer of beer will cause them to "fall in and drown " as they try to get to it ! Maybe makes the little buggers drunk ! I've also seen a product called "Slug-go", in the nurserys, but, again ,I've not had reason to try either...Arlyn

I have used the beer traps and they do catch slugs. Beer is not cheap though.

I have heard of using bread, anyone tried that?

I used the beer and raccoons got into it. What a ruckus! I use Slug-go because it is iron phosphate: pets and birds don't get sick if it is ingested. If the infestation is bad, I go out in the evening or after the rain, I spray them with an ammonia and water mix. The ammonia is weak enough that it doesn't harm any plants or grass.
