Last year I bought a Cloud Nine white eggplant from Wal-Mart. Not realizing it was an F1 hybrid I saved seeds from it. It was a delicious veggie and very productive so I would like to try growing another plant from the seed I saved. What do you think is the likelihood of getting a similar result from the seeds as compared to the plant I bought last year?
Eggplant Question
The chances are darn slim if it was indeed a hybrid--but it'd be fun to see what you get if you plant a few seeds. If you have the room, go for it. After that, you'll be able to address the issue of saving hybrid seeds with personal experience.
Not necessarily slim, erratic is more likely. They may not be uniform in size and shape. Many hybrids are from inbred lines and will have similar appearance in the F2 line. Major loss is in disease resistance.
