"Polly" Alocasia

Monroe, WI(Zone 4b)

I bought this nice specimen of "Polly" yesterday. Now, I really want to keep this one alive........I have managed to kill 2 of them in the last couple of years. What's the secret? I took it up to the greenhouse and told it that it really needed to keep itself alive and I would do my best. LOL

I would bottom water it for the winter and only when it is dry somewhat. If it stays too wet it will rot. I think you can also let it go dormant by holding back on water. You should ask this same question in the Aroid forum.

You can let it dry out a bit when it's cooler and it will go dormant. If you have it wet when it's cooler it will rot. Warm and moist all year will keep it going all year. Temperatures make a big difference.

By the way, it's Alocasia "Poly". The "Poly" derives from the word "polyploid".
