Can't copy and past photo(s) to desktop

Can anyone tell me why I can no longer copy one of my images posted on the internet and post it as my backround on my desktop? Used to be able to do it, then there was some Microsoft upgrade and now I can no longer put a new photo as my backround. Getting very tired of seeing the same flower photo from months ago.

Thanks for your help! I think I have Windows 7
