I thought to start a thread for birds with prey for anyone to post to, instead of putting these photos within the Daily Bird Picture threads. I know some people who are rather squeamish about such things and want to be sensitive to that.
Here is a Northern Shrike that made its first of the season (and year) appearance last Friday. We had been wondering where they have been. Now we think it is a regular visitor based on the fact the feeder birds vanish for a time now.
I have always thought shrikes were scarier looking than most rapters.
Maybe it's the mask. :)
