touch screen is going dark

I have a perfectly good Brother PC 7500 embroidery machine that is almost 20 years old. Still sews beautifully. Unsolved problem: touch screen is going dark. Will not be able to direct machine in anyway should I completely loose it. No help whatever from Brother.....just a curt remark that I should purchase a new machine. No thank you. Other than the touch screen, it is as good as new. HELP
