cedars and applesplanning for gymnosporangium...

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

I live on the east coast where a walk in the woods will reveal many galls on red cedars. I also have two apple trees, one a golden delicious, which is rated very high for susceptibility to gymnosporangium juniperi-virginianae (aka cedar apple rust disease). Now I want to plant some evergreens, but I don't want to bring this symbiotic pest into my yard. It is already irritating that I should probably cut down the naturally growing eastern red cedars. Any ideas for me about control? I am particularly interested in finding a list of evergreens to avoid planting in my yard in addition to juniperus virginiana (red cedar). Thanks in advance.
