Proper product to mulch

Berkeley, CA(Zone 9a)

I just planted $200 worth of bulbs in a new garden area. What should I use as mulch, now? Peat, Bark?
Thanks

any bark is fine, choice is yours for the look you like.

I was thinking about using pine straw, but my question is , does it put out the acid as the tree does, and will it kill the flowers?

Everett, WA(Zone 8a)

I don't think that pine needles put out a measurable amount of acid.

Are you sure you're already on the acid side? Some acid-generating mulch might be good for your soil, if it's on the basic side for your crops.

If your soil is already acid enough to need lime, maybe add a tiny amount more lime next time you get around to liming.

Thank you
