greenhouse

Melbourne, Australia

Hi we bought a greenhouse and I am trying to propergate in it with no success. Im propergating privets at the moment as we need about 300 of them for our front anx back yard garden. Im usinh 50% vermiculite and 50% soil fine sieved . I think the transperation is killing them. We are in the middle of making the greenhouse self water when the humidity is above 28 c . We are just waiting on 1 more part to make this happen. What else can we do to help the heat not kill the privets?

ShazzaC, try using coir from one of those bricks you soak in water. Mix with the vermiculite or perlite.
Much better than soil for cuttings. Holds a bit more moisture.
Aside from keeping moist, not a lot more you can do.
Make sure they are not over wet though or you will get mould .
Jean.
