Ribbon Grass

Saugerties, NY(Zone 5a)

I've had this grass in the pot since I was given a tiny piece in early summer, she's done really well I think and now I need to know what should I do with it? Should I cut it back now or wait til the first frost kills it off? Next summer I will be able to plant it in the ground. I do have a screened in patio so should I leave it outside in the pot for the winter or bring it into the patio?
Thanks for any advice, I'm looking forward to it taking off next year in the spring.

I have some ribbon grass in a pot and I leave mine outside by a tree over the winter. It has come back every spring. Is your patio heated or?

No my patio is not heated so it does get below freezing out there,Do you cut yours back or wait for a freeze to kill it off?

I wait for a freeze to kill it back but I think you could cut it back as well.

Watch out! Ribbon Grass, Phalaris arundinacea picta, spreads like wildfire by rhizomes, underground stems. I would plant it in a big pot without a bottom in the ground to keep it from becoming a fast groundcover.

Yes, as I said, it's potted.
