Does this small Bristlecone look healthy to you? I picked it up yesterday and the nursery owner thought it was dead or mostly dead. He gave it to me and said I could pay him next year if it survived winter. Pretty hard to pass on that deal.
Pinus aristata
At first sight looks OK. A close-up macro of the buds would help.
Resin
If those are not new growth extensions from this year, I'd say you have problems.
Resin ~ this is the best I can do tonight. I'm undeniably a crappy photographer, but someday I'll take the time to read the camera directions. I can try again in the morning. Until then...
ViburnumValley ~ I can't say one way or the other about the growth extension. That probably would've been a good question to ask during my nursery visit.
