Meringue help ?

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Canadian Thanksgiving is upon us this weekend and, I am making a Lemon Meringue pie.
My meringues have been 'so so' the last few times .. any suggestions for a better meringue would be appreciated.
I use 2 egg whites and a 1/4 cup of sugar placed on a HOT pie.
