p.s. Pictured below is the Echinops ritro I grew from seed last year. They bloomed for the first time this spring and I LOVED them. Even the dried seed heads were pretty in and among the other bloomers. Rudbeckia triloba in the background.

Amanda, I got pix of the red variety also, will have to find and get seed from them also. The seed on the Ammis will be ok if just thrown on the surface......

Ah....found it and it is just a tad ddarker than shown I believe...and that seed was 10-15 yrs old...hope I can get some from those that bloomed this year....very RARE.... Kathy

I remember you talking about it this spring. Does it spread and if so rapidly?

Am thinking I only grew it once before and I moved later in the year that it bloomed, So not sure how the reseeding is. The white Ammi visagna also reseeds but not that much....thinking I only had about 10 plants or so. And even the tall (6ft) varitety of Daucus carota only reseeds 10-20 plants... Both varieties are related.... (I intentionally allow it to reseed as I love it at the back of the border. Ammi is an annual, Daucus is biennial and the deer don't touch either.

Pix is Daucus carota and a close up of the umbel type blooms, this one was in my daughter's garden, am thinking it topped out between 6-7ft in height and was about 4-5 ft across. It was just beautiful!!! Great filler for the vase too!! (light fragrance). Will look for some fresh seed.

2 Salvia azurea Nekan, blue, 48", I think this is beginning to reseed at it's feet.

Carolyn..goes down to z4, doesn't give upper zones so I would surmize atleast z9 or 10, book says is native, sky blue flower spikes to 4', in late summer-fall. Want me to put your name on a packet?

I'm not ready for this weather. Temp said 36 low overnight last evening so I brought more things in. Tonight is supposed to be colder, over the weekend colder still.

As you know I've delighted in gardening well into November and deadheading cosmos and zinnias right up to the bitter end. So I'm wondering if I can put a tent over my castor bean (at 10'+) to protect it, but not sure how long the cold will last.

Feeling SAD. Ha ha ha.

Need to go do some cartwheels and backflips to get my mind in the right place (yeah right).

For the purposes of this thread, it's definitely going to have an impact on seed availability and collection. Drat drat and triple drat.

I have seeds of Eupatorium variabile. I have been trying to remove the fuzzy part but they are so small it is difficult to do this without crushing the attached seed. Does anyone have experience with this? Is it okay to leave the fuzzy parts on for storage/shipping?

Iowhen, I've purchased a couple different varieties of Eupatorium and the fuzzy part came with the seeds, it's not the same as chaff.

I'm back from out of town and came home with loads of new plants and even a few seed packs from rareseeds.com, I just happened onto their retail location.
Lazlo - I went out in my yard and found you a creeping gloxinia seed pod. It's the white flowering one. I love this strange plant, and it has done well in my garden in a hanging pot, although it climbs up rather than drape down most of the time.

Laz, I have your Ruellia elegans, not a lot of seeds, but a few. I kept missing them and once that seed capsule pops open they are gone.
I found the green Ammi and have Deejay a packet set aside. Amanda, did you want one too? I can probably make 4-5 packets with enough for a good trial.
Mipii, I haves one or two colors of P. somniferum I will send you.
I'll try to look at lists more closely and post a few more haves this weekend.
