Hi,
I just noticed these characteristically circular holes in the leaves of some of my Aquilegias.
Has anyone any idea what is causing them?
TIA
Something has been chomping on my Aquilegias
Look up Leaf Cutter Bees. Find more images of the holes they cut. Yours sure look like that!
Hey well done! I agree that really seems to be the one. And... they are European... and they are 'solitary' so I don't have to expect an invasion. Phew!
to me looks like kids got out a single paper hole puncher
LOL.... but the holes are too big...
Diana is right. Now and then I get them on rose leaves. No permanent damage.
Those perfectly cut out circles fit the best into the nesting holes the bees make for their eggs and larvae. Kinda nice being able to contribute to nature that way!
