I have wanted one of these for decades, but we have moved a lot, and it didn't seem smart to put in a tree I'll get too attached to. We live in South-Central TX--San Antonio--and this summer had 41 days of triple-digit temperatures, not to mention drought that has us in severe water restrictions. (I can water, but only in the early mornings and late evenings.)
Please recommend a cultivar that can handle this kind of climate? I know it'll need shade, and have a few places that provide what I think is a good micro-climate for one...
JM for South-Central TX?
Anybody?
sorry do not know the TX climate to offer suggestions - do you see any as you drive around?
Check out this nursery. www.metromaples.com
They are based in Texas and should be able to help you find the perfect one for your area.
Wha, thanks for weighing in, even if you don't know Texas. I admit, not many people grow them around here...so there aren't any to see. Not sure I'd know what I was looking at if I DID see one. :~P
Pepper23, thank you so much for the link! I'll go check it out straight away.
Thanks guys!
