Hi! Attached are a couple pictures of my dad's palm tree. It's not looking so good. I think he called this one a Christmas palm, but he's got a couple foxtails that have the same symptoms, and he wants to fix it.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Sickly looking palms...
The third picture looks like some sort of palm leaf miner. I would give the palm a systemic insecticide like imidacloprid and see if there is any improvement. If not spray a fungicide. I cant really tell whats wrong from your pictures. Also make sure fertility levels are good...especially potassium.
The last picture looks like sooty mold. This typically forms when there are insects like aphids and scale feeding on the plant. Their excrement is very sugary, and sooty mold grows on it.
The pictures are sort of blurry, but it looks like there are a lot of odd things on these palm fronds. Some of them might be scale insects.
Systemic insecticides will work for these pests, too.
