Confused Iris in Bloom

(Mary) Anchorage, AK(Zone 4b)

A friend sent me a variety of iris to try in pots as they rot in the ground up here. Lo and behold Recurring Delight has gotten confused with our wacky weather and thinks it is time to bloom. And NO it is not a rebloomer according to Schreiners. Will take a pic when it opens

That happens some times. Their "internal clock" gets a little out of whack due to transplanting, or weather conditions. It is interesting, tho, that while it's not registered as a re-bloomer, and isn't listed on the Re Blooming Iris Society site, It's the only iris ,out of about 10 that have "recurring" in their name, that ISN'T listed as a re-bloomer. One of it's parents is Edith Wolford, and it DOES rebloom(once in a while!)for me, here in 5a. So it may be a one shot deal, or it may happen again, but enjoy it! Some of my rebloomers have started in, and I have never had any this early, so I'm hoping for a real good re-bloom season....Arlyn
