Succulent infested with ? scale? Help with treatment please

VALLEY VILLAGE, CA

As you can see in the photos this succulent is infested with what I think is scale. Can anyone identify this and recommend a spray to kill them. Thanks for any help.

That would be Haworthia truncata but I can't help you with the scale problem. I've read somewhere that some kind of horticultural oil would suffocate them but I've never tried it.

Try wiping them off with some rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab.
Just do one leaf, and rinse off the rubbing alcohol promptly. If the plant does not like that treatment, then only one leaf is affected.

Scale and other sucking insects that are protected like that (sort of looks like mealy bug) are hard to kill. Not because they are resistant to the pesticide, but because they are protected in a way that the pesticide cannot get to them.
