I have a columbine that has begun to have purple maegins. In some areas it even looks maroon. Does anyone know what is causing this?
columbine with purple leaves. disease, nutrition?
My undertsnading is that many species of columbine turn purple towards the end of the season...fall. I don't think anything is wrong at all.
Read the foliage info here: http://www.soonerplantfarm.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/specials.specDetail/recID/21/index.htm
I agree. I have often seen Aquilegia turning colors when nearby plants seem fine, but some other plants (all over the county) are starting to turn fall colors.
Purple leaves can indicate nutrient deficiency in some crops, but here it seems just part of their regular cycle.
