Heirloom tomato flatbread "pizza" with feta, basil and prosciutto. Juiced grape to make jelly tonight.
that pizza sounds yummy!!!
It does! Cooked up the peaches I brought home from Pittsford......mixed in fresh lemon juice & brown sugar.....easy dessert!
well we canned 8 more jars of t's on sunday - we only par boil - skin and see them - 8 jars is the most we've ever done at one time - takes a long time to do 8 jars, glad the wife pitched in for 2 it made a difference in my sore neck.
expect several more canning marathon's as they just keep coming.
My grape jelly is grape syrup! I am probably going to have to process it again!
Not making anything! Am planting more flowers next year!
Grilled tomato and eggplant sandwich with garlic, basil and mozzarella. Fig wrapped in prosciutto for dessert.
sounds good!
All my cuke vines are shriveling up. Grrrrr... They were doing so well...
Sounds yummy, Memory! Pam, cool nights will do that to the cukes......Making zucchini fritters for dinner.....
I pulled all my cukes before vacation. They were all bitter - not worth the water.
Mine are next.....my son's are still producing, so I can get what I need from him.....
Yum! Try with marscapone cheese & honey!
Will do!
garden is going fast and furious - canned 10 jars of t's today
Wow......I made some applesauce from my drops, but have more to pick up.......
How many tomato plants did you plant Bill?
For some reason I didn't like the smell when my mom made applesauce
50ish plants - have another 2 cases we can can maybe
Wow that is a lot
I thought for sure you were gonna cave in and at least do some, Sherrie
Cukes are finished, squash just about done, beans skimpy, cherry tomatoes never really robust but at least still going. What a short season- fall started in August. I'm glad I didn't waste time and space on Beefsteaks.
Still getting lots of Cherokee Purple and the pumpkins are turning orange.
My Cherokees are still totally green! Yes, very short season this year....Jen, Mom should have put cinnamon in the applesauce......makes the house smell yummy....
Some of my pumpkins are already orange and the vines mildewed and dead - I need them for Halloween - should I put them in my basement or leave them in the garden and hope they don't rot?
Wow.....have no idea, but I would probably keep them as cool as possible......
Ooohhhh,, YUM!!!!!
Yum, Memory....both look wonderful....I made plum jelly yesterday, pickled green tomatoes today.....picked up many apple drops....may make jelly from them.....I reuse jars, too.....the pickles are in a pasta sauce jar ( but it will only be for fridge use), the jelly jars are from jelly I've bought , or was given.
nice marilyn
Thanks, Bill......wish my jelly was clearer, but I use low-sugar pectin, & the jelly gets a little opaque......Memory, your jelly looks wonderful....do you use pectin?
For the elderberry, yes. It wasn't very clear - I don't care.
As long as the taste is there, right?
Absolutely!
I just bought a real jam pan on eBay! (I'm so excited as I have wanted one for so long!) It is all copper and only 8.5 quarts - but that is probably plenty big for the amount of jam I make. I still have Aronia berries to jam - think I will wait for my new pan to arrive. (Well - it is new to me, it is used.)
never heard of an Aronia berry
Black Chokecherry cultivar.
