I have this one right and if I didn't my Mum would come back and haunt me. She was from Braemar, Scotland and our home was always filled with thistle everything. Even the pot holders in the kitchen were thistle themed. The thistle was the emblem that described their hard scrabble lives. My Mum always said the the thistle was solid and spiky and and to tangle with a thistle would bring you pain and a wound. The Scots are a hardy breed and so are their thistles. She told me as a kid they would place thistle around their birthing pens to keep marauding critters out of the barn and away from the lambs. The thistles would stick in the paws or feet of the foxes or any other critters attempting to get to the wee bairns.

I made a wild guess and of course I was wrong. I think that I'm 1/8 or so Scotch.

hehehe…I think that would be Scots…Unless you're Dewars, Chivas Regal, Glenlivet, J&B…

;-)))
