squirrels & apples

Berkeley, CA(Zone 9a)

Is there any great products out there (or that I can make) to spray on my apples so the squirrels don't eat every last one!?

People have had success by either wrapping plastic sheets around the tree or sheet metal:

The photos may give you some ideas.

I would be very cautious about spraying the apples because of the potential harm it could do your family.

If you spray something on the apples and then plan to either wash it off or peel the apple, there's still a potential problem to your health. Namely, did what you spray on the apples get absorbed into the fruit and therefore can't be washed off or peeled away?
