I'm trying to grow some strawberries, kale and hostas outside in containers and all are being eaten by some unknown creature. The first to go was the little kale starters - the leaves first looked like lace from the holes, then leaves were completely gone and plant died - couldn't find any critters on the plant. This morning I found one (only) larvae(?) on a leaf kind of bent over and some webby stuff and this pest. Greenish body, black head. I'm not sure it is what has done all the eating on the other plants since I never found any trace of them. Pictures included - mine (bad) and photo taken from Bug Guides that looks just like it. This neodiprion was described as liking pines, though, and hangs out in groups. Any help?
