I had the following over in "Appliances." It was drawing the kind of info that I really wasn't seeking, so I followed their advice:
We need a new vacuum sealer. The Food Savers can’t cut it. We are on our third one over about a five-year period, and it is on its last gasp. We are aware of the no-nos, sucking moisture into the vacuum pump, etc.
We seal over 500 packages–veggies, chicken, pork, game–a year, I estimate.
I am presently leaning toward the Weston Pro 2300–more bucks but more durable, maybe. I’m all ears to any info that is offered.
