What is this worm in my tomato?

Albany, ME(Zone 4b)

Today a tomato plant was wilted. Happened overnight. I pulled the plant, thinking early blight, but the stalk broke and inside was a worm. I googled "tomato borer," but the descriptions I found were not of worms. Does anyone know what this is and what to do about it in the future?

TIA

The tomato borer is a worm, but it is laid by a moth. So you might have seen a picture of the moth.

Look at the third picture down (I think).

I did see that picture on Google, but I really can't make out the worm. Did you look at the picture I attached? The second picture is a pretty good one.

Can't find the pictures you posted, but check this out.

Huh, maybe I'm now experiencing the problem I've seen other folks complain about. Pictures not uploading. I'm going to try again.

Oh foo!!!! I deleted the pictures from my camera. And smashed the worm. Hmmm... but I saw them in DG. Will have to investigate. More later.

OK, here are the pictures. I had originally posted, by mistake, in Plant ID. I reposted here but forgot to add the pictures. Here they are.
