Anyone know what this problem is? I have had 1 good picking, before we had a period of temps over 100, they are blooming but getting "tadpoles"- Is it the heat? The plants sre healthy and robust- any help will be welcome. Thanks- Jo in WA
Kwintus Pole Bean problem
No replies to my post- does nobody have any answers? :-)
Probably the heat. My pole beans quit at triple digits. They don't pollinate at high temps. Each bean in the pod has to be pollinated to grow a normal pod. You are getting minimum pollination. Sometimes I get completely empty pods which nevr fully develop.
Thanks, farmerdill- that's what I figured- there are plenty of bees, so the heat is it. I will just try to keep the vines healthy and hope for cooler temps!
