Our paper had an article today with current study re emphasizing the hazards of cat waste.
Cat waste (cats the spend time outdoors or are feral) often carries Toxoplasmosis, as it always has. This hardy parasite can live as "oocycsts", very durable egg like stages. Risks of infection include birth defects and possibly schizophrenia, brain cancer, or suicidal behavior.
They recommend putting cat waste in the garbage, not toilet.
Wash all produce . Wear gloves while gardening and wash after.
And they didn't say but we certainly can assume, they absolutely , positively don't want us burying cat waste or putting it in compost, no matter how well maintained the compost..
Cat waste- renewed warnings
