Help with tropical

Niles, MI(Zone 5a)

Ok I have a large beautiful tropical hibiscus, it has lived in my bathroom window for the past three years and outside in the summer. Now I need to prune it so it fits the window for the coming winter. How far back, I plan to root the cuttings so I will have more plants. But, I need to know how to go about it

Don't prune the plant more than 1/3 of its size and make sure there is still plenty of green. Doing more can put the hibby into shock. Hope this helps.

I followed your advice and only pruned it back 1/3. WOW!! it is putting out shoots just below the cuts and the flowers, are huge. I thought that I would hurt it, however it is beautiful. so much for being afraid that I would ruin a wouderful plant.

Awesome! Glad that you took the chance. If you have roses, the same thing will happen too! But when pruning back roses you will trim to the "eye" on the stem.
