Will be pulling up my iris..losing some to crown rot..clay garden..3" of rain...yesterday...ground completely saturated.and more showers predicted. :(
Actually has been raining pretty much every day since whenever,
anyway..would iris work well in raised bed if I used bagged compost and perlite or vermiculite? Last season was drought..would like to strike a balance as the weather is being unpredictable.
I would leave my water iris and probably the Siberians in the damp area...so just bearded for the raised bed..
Iris in raised beds?
You might have to give them some additional winter protection. I have mine in a raised bed and lose some each winter to heaving.
Raised beds work fine. We use a winter mulch of pine needles on newly planted irises.
