Ferns for floral arr. that grow well in Grand Rapids MI

Byron Center, MI

2 years ago I asked a florist what the very "airy" looking fern was that they used in floral arrangements. She said it was a type of "asparagus" fern (actually in the lilly family.) Well, I bought one and planted it in what I thought to be an ideal location for ferns---other are growing just fine there. But it didn't thrive and this year it died. Can anyone make some other suggestions? Also are there ferns that don't wilt immediately??
Thank you in advance for your kind advice!!

south central, WI(Zone 5a)

Leather leaf fern is quite hardy, i grew it inside before I moved/
An ornamental oregano (Herrenhausen) is a graceful filler with very small purple blooms.
I use the leaves of thalictrum and astilbe for greenery.
A new find..was looking for filler the other day and pulled a Herb Robert plant and snipped off the one root..lovely gentle fern nest for the vase..also has burgundy stems..day three still looking great.
Hope this helps.
