Oh no! Violet Becomes You is one I wanted to get, but could not afford. Have you seen Lyle's bloom? Beautiful.
I had 2 or 3 uglies last year, but hope this year does not have any! LOL

I have a ugly Rosy Returns today. It has never bloomed so ugly before.
Violet Becomes you is a real shame. Hope the rest of the blooms are normal.

Umbrella Parade's first bloom was a ugly one today. Had storms over night so I will blame them.
Do "thrips" cause some of this ugliness???? I have a number of daylilies that have a splotchy-ness all over them. Here is one of them.
I only get the ugly ones in a bed that gets all day sun, the soil has so much "clay" that I have to dig it out and replace it, when I plant a new daylily.
Any ideas???
Could be thrips or other critters. I have also had katydids mess with the flowers. Could be weather related too. Some cultivars take a few blooms before they straighten up also. If every single bloom is like that, then I would suspect some type of bug.
Blue Eyed Curls has often made it to this thread and even sometimes wins the most ugly trophy.
The triplets are outstanding!!!

I have blue eyed curls that barely opened.
Usually after several uglies, it ends up quite nice. If that happens this year, I'll try to remeber to post it
Trimmed In Gold is looking particularly goofy.....Ugly compared to it's normal look.

This is almost the last bloom on Best for Last. Apparently it isn't living up to its name.

OMG!!!!!! It has been 5 years since I was a "subscriber". I had lost my job, had to move, blah, blah, blah. Upon subscribing, the first thing I looked for was "Ugly Daylilies". I can't tell you how good it is to see it's still here AND to see the names of some of my old friends. I used to be known as sybiltwo "back in the day". Please, if you knew me then, drop me a line. I've been MIA for many months. Getting back in "the groove".
Still 3 ft of snow in the yard so I wont be posting pics for some time. That and I will be digging up most of what I have to move to a new house soon. Putting ours on the market by April 1st. (I have a LOT of digging to do)
This is a bonus from Maryott's called 'Partita'. Nothing but bad luck with this one, first the rain messed it up, then this guy showed up to finish her off! LOL.

I heard it takes a while to settle in. Hopefully the ugly stage has passed.....
