Problem after update to IE10

Yesterday when I turned my PC on, there had been an auto update to IE 10- I wasn't happy but it seems OK- (I had to get signed in to DG and others again) but I have noticed one DG difference that I don't like- after reading the new posts on the forums that I am watching, the "new" doesn't go away any more, at least until I exit from DG. I wonder if that is a DG thing or IE? One other thing- I see a running spell check here now- has it always been there and I just didn't notice?
