My neighbor across the street has a fairly big yard of lawn. She's almost 80 years old and she's out there mowing the dang lawn every week and would like to stop. It will be too big of a job for her to try and cover the lawn with newspaper and mulch to kill the grass that is there. I'm wondering if she could add no-mow grass seed to the existing lawn; would the new grass eventually take over? Any suggestions on ways she can minimize the mowing? She can't afford to have the lawn dug up, and it's too big to cover up and kill.
Adding no-mow grass seed to existing lawn?
Couldnt you find a volunteer in the neighborhood to mow for her, maybe a high school kid or someone from the local church. It breaks my heart that more people dont help senior's. How kind of you to care for her.
Christine
Thanks for the reply Christine. She's still very healthy and active, she just doens't want the lawn anymore.
